Purpose

To encourage and study the relationship between people, animals, plants and the abiotic aspects of the environment, as the basis for the scientific study of the ways in which people can appropriately plan their activities in the worlds in which they live...the ways in which people can implement change for the health of the planet.

To encourage the contributions of comparative psychology (the science of the development and evolution of the activity/behavior of all species) to these purposes. To make this possible, people need to know the history of the people (cultural history); of the animals (their evolutionary history); the history of the area in which the people and the animals are found today (paleoecology; contemporary ecology), as well as the conditions in which the people and animals live today.

Such knowledge is basic to human agency to sustain planetary ecological welfare for all species.
